CLRA Reclamation Management Conference Begins Tomorrow

The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA) will be hosting their annual general meeting and conference named “Back to the Future: Adaptive Reclamation Management”, from February 26 to 28, 2014 at the Sheraton in Red Deer, Alberta.

“As reclamation practitioners across all sectors, we take on challenges of reclaiming developed lands to accepted end uses and/or reclamation objectives. We should pursue efficiencies and improvement in our work and be continuously looking for ways to enhance our approach or best practice. One way to do this is through adaptive reclamation management. By measuring and monitoring what we have done, we can build and adapt reclamation processes to bring efficiencies and enhanced value. Think what could have been achieved if we could have applied what we know now to practices and challenges of 1 to 10 years ago?” the officials stated.

Adaptive reclamation consists of assessing, designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and adjusting – similar to a typical management system. Adaptive management requires systematic and rigorous approach to improving management and adopting changes and learnings.
