Corps to Announce Tender for Narragansett Bay Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, plans to issue a Sources Sought Announcement for a maintenance dredging project located in Little Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The main goal of this project is to make the Congressionally-authorized Federal Navigation Project (FNP) in Narragansett Bay 10 feet deep below mean lower low water (MLLW) and 100 feet wide, extending approximately 6000 lineal feet from Sandy Point Island to just west of Pawcatuck Point.

During this cleanup program, approximately 60,000 cubic yards of material will be dredged from the channel and placed onto Sandy Point Island.

The dredging work is planned for the fall and winter of 2014-15 and will last 8 to 10 weeks. The estimated cost of this deepening program is $1 mln to $5 mln.
