Maintenance dredging of the Scarborough River in Scarborough, Maine, will be completed under the terms of a $1,698,134.00 contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
Work will be executed by North America Landscaping, Construction and Dredge Company, Inc., of Ellicott City, Md. Dredging is scheduled to begin this week and will last about three months.
“ The work consists of dredging about 114,300 cubic yards of sediment, including one foot of allowable over depth, ” said Project Manager Michael Walsh, of the Corps’ New England District, Programs/Project Management Division in Concord, Mass . “ The dredged material will be removed using a hydraulic dredge and pipeline. Disposal will be on the adjacent Western Beach as beneficial use material.”
The dredging project will be managed by the Corps and all work will be carried out under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
