The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, plans to issue an invitation for bids for maintenance dredging of the Wells Harbor Federal Navigation Project, and maintenance dredging by the Town of Wells.

The proposed work consists of maintenance dredging of the 8-foot entrance channel, 6-foot inner harbor channel, 6-foot anchorage and the approximately 8-foot-deep settling basin which is between the jetties.

The work will include dredging of about 130,000 cubic yards of sandy sediment from the Federal project and about 20,000 cubic yards of sandy sediment from the Town project.

The project is planned to be issued on or about July 3, 2013, and the estimated cost is between $1 mln and $5 mln.

Dredging and disposal window is from September 15 to March 31.
