The overhaul of the Promenade in Scheveningen was completed on 6 April.
The construction work, that took more than three years, drew on the knowledge and expertise of Deltares.
During this large, complex construction project, the sea wall was strengthened and also overhauled so that it is now suitable for multifunctional use. In a series of practical trials, Deltares looked at the cladding to see whether it would be able to cope with extreme storm conditions.
In addition, to make sure all the work went off smoothly, and to minimise the impact on the surroundings during the construction work, the city authorities of The Hague worked with a risk file which was drafted by Deltares in collaboration with Ingenieursbureau Den Haag.
Deltares advised on the approach, possible vibration damage and alternative execution methods.
