The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, last week released a draft environmental assessment on the proposed modifications to the existing levee system at Alvarado, Minn.

The City of Alvarado proposes to modify the existing levee system constructed by the Corps of Engineers during the 1990s.

Modifications include removing damaged levee areas, constructing a rock support, realigning portions of the levee, re-grading slopes and reinforcing the river banks to prevent erosion.

The document is available for public review until March 31.
