Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after recently sending a letter to President Barack Obama seeking the President to address dredging and harbor maintenance needs for America’s ports and harbors:

“Keeping America’s ports and harbors properly maintained and operating at maximum efficiency continues to be a primary goal of mine this Congress. During his State of the Union address, the President highlighted the need to upgrade the nation’s ports and harbors. This bipartisan letter has support from Members of Congress across the country in every different corner.”

“We all recognize the important role waterways play as agents of commerce, providers of jobs, and facilitators of American competitiveness. I urge President Obama to include sufficient funding in the White House’s proposed budget to ensure our ports and harbors remain the avenues of commerce the United States has come to rely on since its founding.”
