Kingsville Mayor Calls for Dredging (Canada)

Low water levels that are restricting shipping traffic and causing barges to run aground are causing concerns at Kingsville Harbour.

Nelson Santos, the Kingsville mayor, believes that, in dealing with the harbour problems, unresolved ownership questions should get priority, reports blackburnnews.com.

“That area is still owned, I believe, by the federal government. That’s an area that needs to be addressed in terms of dredging now, because of the lower lake levels,” explains Santos.

Dredging would provide safe passage for boats and ships and improve navigation conditions, thus resulting in improved port development conditions.
