USA: Army Corps Awards Stonington Breakwater Contract

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $760,500 contract to repair the east breakwater in Stonington Harbor to Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman Inc. of Branford. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $760,500 contract to repair the east breakwater in Stonington Harbor to Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman Inc. of Branford.

According to the Corps, about 3,000 tons of stone will be used for this project.

“ Several sections of the breakwater incurred significant damage during Tropical Storm Irene ,” said Army Corps project manager Mike Walsh .

This project will begin around November 1 and should be completed in March 2013.
