If the State Government wants the green light for the widening and deepening of the Trinity Inlet, they will need to find a dumping ground for five million cubic metres of dredge spoil.
According to cairns.com, the Green groups have expressed concerns about shifting the dredge spoil close to the Great Barrier Reef.
Jeff Seeney, the Deputy Premier , stated: “ It’s about identifying solutions to those issues, not using them as a reason not to do it.”
With draft terms of reference for an environmental impact statement released by the State Government, the plans were yesterday opened to the first round of public scrutiny, reports cairns.com.
