On June 30, CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd. signed a contract for Section H2.5 of Phase 1 of the 300,000t channel project at Lianyungang Port, with a value of 259 million yuan and a construction period of 13 months.

The project involves the dredging of Xuwei inner channel, Xuwei S0+000~S5+000 channel and Xuwei S5+000~S19+909 channel, with a designed bottom elevation of -13.3 meters and total dredging quantities of 21.776 million cubic meters. It is scheduled to be initiated in late June 2012 and delivered in late July 2013. Now the company’s project department is organizing staff for project preparations to ensure punctual initiation.

According to sources, located on the southwest bank of north Jiangsu’s Haizhou Bay in the Yellow Sea, Lianyungang Port is the most economical and convenient marine outlet along Lianyungang-Lanzhou Railway and Lanzhou-Urumqi Railway, one of China’s main coastal hub ports, as well as a major port for outward transport and export transport of energy in the center of the coastal region. The project will play a significant role in building Lianyungang Port into a great international hub port.
