Australia: Dredger “Port Frederick” Arrives at Mooloolah River

Vessels

According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, a heavy duty dredge, Port Frederick, sailed into Mooloolaba harbour to begin its work dredging the dangerous sandbar at the Mooloolah River mouth.

The dredge, from the Gold Coast, will start to pump sand off the bar as soon as its initial testing is completed.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said while the work’s progress would be dependent on the weather, it was hoped the job could be finished in a fortnight.

“It’s great to see it here at last,” Ms Simpson said.
