The multi-million dollar project that will repair two area storm-beaten beaches is underway.

The E.W. Ellefsen, a massive dredger, was in place Friday near Corson’s Inlet as part of the beach replenishment project for Strathmere and Sea Isle’s beaches.

Officials say bad weather prevented the dredge from making its way to New Jersey, delaying the eight million dollar project by more than three weeks.

The dredge will move south as work continues through January and February.
