USA: Boustany to Testify on RAMP Act

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD, (R-LA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight of the Committee on Ways and Means, will testify at a hearing of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment on H.R. 104, The Realize America’s Maritime Promise (RAMP) Act.

The bill, introduced by Boustany, ensures funds brought into the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund are used for their intended purpose – the dredging and maintenance of the nation’s ports and waterways. The hearing will take place on Friday, July 8, 2011, in Room 2167 of the Rayburn House Office Building, beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST and will be immediately followed by a markup of H.R. 104.

“Dredging and maintaining our waterways is absolutely critical to bolstering trade, creating jobs and strengthening American competitiveness,” Boustany said. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to testify in front of my colleagues and emphasize to them the importance of our nation’s waterways. This bill creates the fully-funded, long-term dredging plan necessary for realizing our economic potential.”
