UK: Ovenden Earthmoving Take New Models from Volvo Construction Equipment

Business & Finance

Ovenden Earthmoving Co Ltd of Wingham Well near Canterbury has taken delivery of a new Volvo L180G wheeled loader and three A30F articulated haulers as an increment to its plant fleet.

These latest additions to Ovenden’s earthmoving fleet of primarily Volvo branded machines were chosen once again thanks to high product availability of the existing product coupled to a first class after sales service support and operator acceptance. In particular, the L180G which features a 13 litre Tier IIIB compliant 333hp engine, optishift transmission and axles all designed and manufactured by Volvo has been deployed on one of many coastal defence contracts undertaken by Ovenden Earthmoving. Equipped with a bespoke pipe handling grapple the 25 tonne wheeled loader is well on top of the job of handling up to 20m long pipes which are used for the process of beach re-nourishment. Watch the machine in action!

With a full turn tipping load of 17.2 tonnes, the new L180G wheeled loader boast a 20% increase in lifting force and 10% increase in breakout force over its predecessor. This coupled to the engine output with high torque at low engine rpm has resulted in faster cycle times and increased productivity. Two stronger, variable displacement load-bearing axial piston pumps and hoses have been introduced to handle the increased pressures. These provide superior control of the load and attachments, as well as high breakout force, faster lifting and tilt functions. A new hydraulic cooling system has been designed to reduce the working temperatures by up to 20oC over the F series model.

Both the trucks and wheeled loader have Volvo Caretrack telematics supplied as standard and all are covered under Volvo’s Blue Service agreements. CareTrack provides operational data remotely via the internet, including fuel consumption and idle time, all helping to reduce cost of ownership and maximise utilisation. Both the excavator and haulers will be serviced and maintained by Volvo service engineers, with Volvo’s blue customer service agreements offering the care and peace of mind Ovenden’s are looking for.

Ovenden Earthmoving Co Ltd, was originally established in 1973 to carry out earthworks in connection with the construction of the Channel Tunnel.
