The revised Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC came into force at the end of 2008. It has to be transposed into national law by 12 December 2010.

The aim of the workshop was:

* to gather the views of the European Commission, the Member States and the different stakeholders on the subject of the Waste Directive with reference to dredged material;

* more specifically: to exchange best practices and knowledge on the subject of ecotoxicity (H14) for which guidance is not expected before the end of 2011.
