Dominican Republic: President Orders Yuna River Dredging

President Orders Yuna River Dredging

President Danilo Medina yesterday ordered a dredging program on 20 kilometers of the Yuna River, reports dominicantoday.com.

This program should resolve the historical flooding that affects more than 9,000 hectares of rice plantations in its lower basin.

Medina ordered that the Yuna River dredging project commences immediately.

The Yuna River is the second longest river in the Dominican Republic at 185.17 km in length.

It forms within the Cordillera Central mountain range southwest of the city of Bonao and passes through the fertile Cibao Valley.
